A Price-Based Iterative Double Auction for Charger Sharing Markets

The unprecedented growth of demand for charging electric vehicles (EVs) calls novel expansion solutions to today’s networks. Riding on the wave proliferation sharing economy, Airbnb-like charger markets open opportunity expand existing networks without requiring costly and time-consuming infrastructure investments, yet successful design such relies innovations at interface between game theory, mechanism design, large scale optimization. In this paper, we propose a price-based iterative double auction where owners rent out their under-utilized chargers charge-needing EV drivers. Charger drivers form two-sided market which is cleared by auction. Chargers’ locations, availabilities, unit time service costs as well drivers’ location preferences are considered in allocation scheduling process. goal compute social welfare maximizing schedules benefit both and, turn, ensure continuous market. We prove that proposed budget balanced individually rational. addition, results from our computational study show achieves average 94% efficiency compared with optimal suitable larger day-ahead setting terms running time.
